This store offers a number of beautiful products made by cooperatives of women, most of whom are violence survivors, from the Kigutu community in Burundi, Africa. These co-ops are owned and lead collectively by these women, and aim to teach skills and create opportunities to improve the livelihoods of themselves, their families, and their communities.
The proceeds from these sales will go directly back to these women, to their cooperatives, and toward the sustainability of this program.
You can learn more about the co-ops here:

In a country where almost 70 percent of the people go hungry, any extra income for these women has an immediate and substantial impact on improved quality of life, since increased income is directly proportional to increased health.
